From the epilogue of Dust to Ashes :D currently I have only written a very small part of the epilogue, but here’s a little of it:

“You actually think I did something decent? Because I didn’t, Isabelle. Nothing I did tonight was noble.” He clenched his fists until the knuckles turned bone white and popped. “Nothing I ever did was noble.”

  Isabelle felt the air rush all around her- a dark collective weight that seemed to push down on her shoulders and crawled into her mouth until she felt like she was drowning- asphyxiating. She couldn’t open her mouth to breathe, let alone scream. It stung her cheeks and made her eyes water. She began to fear that she would hit the ground with a terrible force- imagined hurtling downwards and getting dashed against whatever rocks may have lain there.

   And then came a more terrifying thought. What if she never reached the ground?

“This isn’t funny Crevan. You treat everything like a joke.”
Crevan shrugged and leaned back against the wall.
“Vita est quis vos planto is.”
“What does that mean?”
“Life is what you make it. It’s Latin,” Crevan added, as though that explained everything.

And maybe, she thought, in Crevan’s world, it does.

“You mortals are always the same. Pretending that everyone has only one reason for everything that they do. The Fae know differently at least, we understand that ulterior motives are a matter of fact. We do not age; do not grow old as your race do. Therefore we are detached from your existence. Why should we care, when you are just drops in the ocean? You shall wither and die before I look a whole year older! And yet,” she hesitated for a moment, flicking her eyes over Isabelle like she was an ugly rat she’d found on the street. “And yet, you are a piece on the chessboard.”

    “Don’t,” she said, appalled. “Don’t say things like that. There’s nothing wrong with you.”

  He smiled at her then, that smile that made her heartbeat stutter.

   “Of course there is. Do you think that I never wonder why I ended up here? Why my own mother kicked me out? I’ve done bad things before, terrible stuff that would make you run away from me if I told you. And maybe I should let you know. Because I don’t think I’ve ever cared before. Not until I saw you in the water.”

     Her heart didn’t just stutter this time, it practically stopped.

    “And now what?” she whispered.

“And now you’re leaving. I think.”

    Isabelle shook her head and dropped the bag back down on the bed.

   “No,” she said. “I’m not.”

Most boys, at least by Isabelle’s reckoning, looked at a girl’s outstretched hand like they were going to kiss it. Not Crevan. He eyed hers as though he was wondering how to dismantle it at the wrist. She hastily returned it to the safety of her pocket.

Yep, one line only, that’s all you get. *Cue evil laughter* :P

“There can’t be a crisis!” He cried, looking suitably scandalized at the prospect. “My schedule is full!”

So… my school is closed today due to the pension strikes. I have to say I completely agree with them. Yes, the government needs a way to save money, but telling people they have to work until 65 is appalling, especially since they’re paying more into a pension that they may or may not get, since not everybody lives that long.

In other news, I’m neglecting my homework to write all day :)

Okay, so I have a rough idea of the chapter names in the book. Since it’s only 160 pages so far, I can’t guarentee that there won’t be more than 17 chapters in total, but as today’s teaser I’m giving away the first 2 and the prologue :)
